Ready LDD Grant Writing Bench

Supporting Our Rural Communities

The Ready LDD Grant Writing Bench is an initiative of the Appalachian Regional Commission’s Ready Appalachia program, positioning rural communities to access funds to support a variety of community building and economic development needs.  The program offers the Commission’s ARC-member communities access to free grant research, project development,  and grant writing services through a growing bench of qualified grant writers and grant-writing firms.

The Appalachian Regional Commission recognizes that small rural communities with the greatest needs often lack the resources to pursue complex Federal funding opportunities.  The Ready LDD Grant Writing Bench matches our rural localities to professional grant writers with expertise in several Federal programs with a demonstrated history of successful grant applications.  Our grant writers will work with your community no matter where you are on project development – from a recognized need without a clear solution, all the way to a fully fleshed out project that simply needs assistance with narrative and submission to the appropriate agency.

Read on below for information on who qualifies, what kind of projects can request assistance, and how to contact the Regional Commission for help.

How It Works

You can watch our kickoff meeting video, below, for an introduction to the Ready LDD program:

Who Can Receive Assistance?

RVARC members who are part of the Applachian Regional Commission are qualified to access the grant writing bench.  These communities are the Alleghany, Botetourt, and Craig counties; the City of Covington; and the Town of Clifton Forge.  Counties can seek assistance on behalf of non-member towns within their borders.

What Kinds of Project Qualify?

The Ready LDD Grant Writing Bench is currently focused on giving rural communities access to the many one-time and supplementary grant programs funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.  Any grant offered by a Federal program or that provides access to Federal funds qualify for assistance from the Ready LDD Grant Writing Bench.  In addition, preference is given to projects that meet one or more of the Appalachian Regional Commission’s Investment Priorities.  If you have a funding opportunity outside of a Federal program or that does not meet ARC’s investment priorities, contact the Regional Commission to discuss.

How Much Assistance Can I Receive?

The Regional Commission received $100,000 to support the grant writing bench.  Assistance is offered on a first come, first served basis until the funds are expended.
