Public Information Meeting

The Roanoke Valley - Alleghany Regional Commission is holding a 'Public Information Meeting' on Thursday, March 9, 2006 from 3 PM until 7 PM at the Roanoke Higher Education Center in Downtown Roanoke.  The format will be an 'open house' style of meeting so please drop by at any time from 3 PM until 7 PM to view exhibits of current Commission projects and to learn more about the Regional Commission and its mission to serve the citizens, governments, and businesses of the Roanoke Valley - Alleghany region.  Refreshments will be provided.

The Higher Education Center is located at 108 N. Jefferson St., Roanoke, VA.

Weldon Cooper Center Population Estimates

The Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service has released its provisional 2005 population estimates for the Commonwealth of Virginia and for all Virginia Cities and Counties.  You can download the latest estimates from the following site:

Analysis of the data shows that the population of the Regional Commission has grown by 2.2% since the 2000 Census and the population of the Roanoke MSA has grown by 2.6% in the same period.  Please contact the Regional Commission staff at 540.343.4417 or by email at rvarc@rvarc.org if you require assistance with demographic research.
