The Commission's community development planning efforts cover a wide range of activities. Many of the projects pursued by the Commission are regional in nature, while other projects are specific to individual localties.
The Commission staff support to member governments through projects that include:

- housing grant management
- local comprehensive plan development
- local zoning ordinance development

- open space planning
