May is Bike Month
Join the Regional Commission and RIDE Solutions in celebrating Bike Month (May 2009). A range of events are planned each week to encourage and celebrate bicycling in the Roanoke Valley. Additional Information and a calendar of events are available at www.bikeroanoke.org.

Bicycle Awards
As part of Bike Month, the Regional Bicycle Advisory Committee has established two awards to recognize individuals that promote bicycling in the region - the Extraordinary Bicycle Professional Award and the Bike Hero Award. Regional Commission Establishes Bicycle Advisory Committee
The Regional Commission has establised a regional bicycle advisory committee (BAC) to assist in improving bicycle accommodation in the Roanoke Valley. The BAC is composed of a range of stakeholders including local government staff, regional and state agencies, bicycle clubs and advocacy groups, non-profits, and other interested parties. Regional Commission Receives Bicycle Friendly Business Designation
The Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Regional Commission was designated as a Bicycle Friendly Business at the Bronze level by the League of American Bicyclists.
